ROCHESTER — Red Sox Fever has hit St. Elizabeth Seton
School. And it's all for a good cause.
Principal
Suzanne Boutin said she was approached by seventh- and
eighth-grade students this week who asked to have an optional
dress down day for each day the Red Sox played in the World
Series. The school often holds the dress down days, also known
as Jeans Days, as fund-raisers for numerous causes.
Boutin and teachers thought the students' plan was a
great one, and children were given the all clear to wear
baseball caps, Red Sox T-shirts or wear the team's colors for
a $1 donation.
All proceeds are being donated to the
Jimmy Fund in support of cancer research and treatment for
children and adults at Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
On the first day of the fund-raiser on Wednesday, the
students raised more $300, and on Thursday they raised
hundreds more, school officials said.
Students will
continue to wear Red Sox clothing next week as the World
Series continues.
"We all think it's a wonderful idea,"
Boutin said.
